Re: 6 channel sound

If you use arts check full duplex checkbox

movies will also use 6 channels if you have 6 channels

but in general, programs won't use full duplex. You should hack your alsa settings to enable this.

Full duplex hasn't helped. If I'm not using arts, then how can I set up surround? What do you mean "hack alsa"?

Re: 6 channel sound

you'll have to learn alsa programing. go to alsa page and read documentation.

Is it possible to make 6 channel sound work without programming?

Re: 6 channel sound

I have a different soundcard, but the settings could be similar. In gnome-alsamixer I have these options:

Line-in as rear
mic as center/LFE

Enable them (or some similar things) and connect the proper outputs (line-in and mic in my case) to amp.
