So, I just installed Arch on my laptop...can someone point me to the right place for libraries for wav, mp3, avi, etc? Thanks!

I don't know the libraries but i know the programs that use those libraries.
Avi can be Vlc, Mplayer or Totem.
Mp3 can be Rhythmbox, Exaile, Amarok, Banshee, etc.

ehhh... yeah I got that much.... but in Rhythmbox I had all the libraries open to play anything I wanted...and same with burning w/ K3B

For rythmbox; install the whole gstreamer0.10-plugins group.

Allan...I'm looking for libraries for K3b, rhythmbox, and movie player..... (restricted sources I think they are called)..... I want to be able to work with any type of media file extention...(avi, wav, mp3, mp4, etc) (is that better? ...sorry I'm a newbie

Arch doesn't have anything like "restricted sources", we are much more relaxed about it. Eg you don't have to enable some extra repository er anything to get libdvdcss, the gstreamer mp3 stuff, divx and similar.

Uh... default install of packages should work in most cases. What CAN'T you play?

I only had "gstreamer-good / -bad /-ugly
gstreamer0.10-plugins got the whole group for me.......
and ngoonee.....I did try...thats why I asked.....
