Re: April 2010 screenshots

When I look at the screenshots in these kind of threads, I get the feeling that after going to KDE I don't belong here anymore. smile
I should get a netbook fast so I can get back to *box-ing, conky tinkering and general time-wasting customizations. I miss it.:o

Re: April 2010 screenshots

Cool, i3 really seems very nice and worth a try.
But now, here's *the* question: how can you have a screenshot with the same screenshot appearing in the Arch Forums already?

You take 1 screenshot, post it, take another, re post it, take another, re post it.  If you look about three layers in you will notice the pattern is broken, the browser is no longer showing the screenshot thread it is showing the forum home page smile

I have a script that take a screenshot and posts it and a thumbnail automatically to my server so I can achive this within seconds.

i3 is a beatiful simplistic window manager with fantastic support for multiple monitors, even plugging monitors in of the fly i3 can handle.

EDIT: You don't actually repost.  As long as the image (html link) is the same you don't have to edit your post, your link just points to the updated screenshot.

Re: April 2010 screenshots

Wow, very very nice! I've been looking at some tiling window managers lately, what are you using? Also, what is the bar at the top with the simple icons and system information? That looks really cool.

For the rest, I'd like to know what fonts are in your webbrowser and terminal. They look a lot better than what I have.

Window manager is XMonad. The bar at the top is dzen2 with information feeded by conky.
All this is in the official repositories.

The fixed width font is Envy Code R and the other is Droid Sans. Both in AUR.

Re: April 2010 screenshots

@ Brisbin

Cool, looking forward to seeing it.  I know your bash is way way superior to mine, but here is my script.  You can just loop it ten times.  Tweak it for your own server or devianART etc

gary@Lister ~ $ cat .bin/screenshot
#!/bin/bash

SHOT="`date +%y%m`.png"
SHOTTHUMB="`date +%y%m`t.png"
SERVER=192.168.1.10
SERVERDIR="/srv/httpd/htdocs/linux/shots"
SERVERURL="http://www.foxjames.co.uk/linux/shots"
SHOTDIR="/tmp"

scrot $SHOTDIR/$SHOT
cp $SHOTDIR/$SHOT $SHOTDIR/$SHOTTHUMB
mogrify -resize 25% $SHOTDIR/$SHOTTHUMB

scp $SHOTDIR/$SHOT $USER@$SERVER:$SERVERDIR
scp $SHOTDIR/$SHOTTHUMB $USER@$SERVER:$SERVERDIR

echo "" | xclip
