[solved] ncmpcpp password problem

so here's my setup.   I have a media server through which i run mpd.  On my laptop, I have been using ncmpcpp to connect to the mpd server.  However, i have noticed that if, for whatever reason, ncmpcpp gets temporarily disconnected from the mpd server, a password prompt pops up on the bottom of the ncmpcpp window.

The problem is that I don't use a password for the mpd server, and I am not able to do anything (that i am aware of) to get rid of the password prompt.  I end up having to terminate ncmpcpp and restart it.

Do any of you more experienced ncmpcpp users know how to fix this? It's really starting to annoy me.  Thanks smile

Re: [solved] ncmpcpp password problem

It also happens when mpd and ncmpcpp are running on the same host, where it should never be disconnected (if ncmpcpp uses localhost, of course)

If anyone have a solution, I'll also take it. smile

Re: [solved] ncmpcpp password problem

I've been seeing the same issue but not is a big problem, only restarting ncmpcpp fix it. Probably a configuration for the password in the mpd.conf file, only guessing.

Re: [solved] ncmpcpp password problem

@l'pc, that's odd that it happens on the same host, as i first thought it was a connection problem.

@n0dix, i thought it might be a configuration problem too, but looking through my mpd.conf there are no references to having a password.  I agree that it's not a big problem, just mildly annoying.

any other ideas out there? smile

Re: [solved] ncmpcpp password problem

I use ordinary ncmcp, to be exact

ncmcp -c

and it doesn't do that. I've never had problem with that...

have you updated to ncmpcpp-0.5.3? As stated earlier, this problem should be fixed now.
