[Audio] Acer 7738G + Realtek's AL888

Hello guys,

I recently bought Acer 7738 with Realtek's AL888 audio card, installed arch and most of hardware works perfecly. There is only one feature that doesn't work, it's 5.1 audio.

As first option I've choosen alsa, but with many different ~/.asoundrc's it doesn't work properly although 2.1 was working fine (front left/right & bass tuba), then I thought that oss would give me a helpful hand, but I can't  load hda-intel module (memory protection violation or something similar - translating from polish), so the last option was Pulse Audio, I have installed it and configured with help form wiki.

Here are the steps I did:

1. Install alsa-lib, alsa-utils, alsa-oss
2. As root: alsaconf, choosen right audio card.
3. Installed PA with wiki.
4. Created ~/.asound.rc - http://pastebin.com/za44p7qa
5. Changed ; default-sample-channels = 2 to default-sample-channels = 6 in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf

/etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf:

alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel

lspci: http://pastebin.com/naFF7ntk

Any ideas? If more files is needed tell me which and I'll bring it to you wink

Pavucontrol screens:

With these configs I can play music, but it seems to be 2.0, no bass.

Just rebooted and all controls in pavucontrol appeard:

As you can see there is no devices that I can cofigure, I can play music in all apps, but I can't hear anything.

Just discovered:

[sowizz@myhost ~]$ cat /proc/asound/cards
--- no soundcards ---

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did try to load snd-hda-intel with modprobe, successful after kernel26 reinstall, now I can choose from many profiles in Config tab in pavucontrol including Analog Surround 5.1 Output, I can hear music now, but still it doesn't seem to be 5.1, at least bass tuba doesn't work.

[sowizz@myhost ~]$ speaker-test -c 6 -t wav

speaker-test 1.0.22

Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 6 channels
