Re: Heroes of Newerth going open beta

As a long-time player, I can state frankly that I flame noobs all the time smile. Its a competitive game, and one lousy player really messes things up. Thankfully due to PSR and other stats its rare that actual noobs play in my games.

If you're just starting out, look for a no-stats game with NOOBS ONLY or something like that. If people still flame you there ignore them. Just don't join my game with the red "Pro Only" sign =p

Getting flamed, and asked to never play again in 1300-rated games where it says "complete beginners only" ftw. smile Several times. Makes no sense. Quite loving folks, indeed big_smile It's fun to play with friends only though.

Well, games which say 'complete beginners only' shouldn't have flaming. Of course, due to the fact that stats are STILL awarded, I wouldn't be hopeful for the other 4 people in the team putting up with a noob tower-diving to get creep kils.

No-stats games are the way to go when learning. The new version even has a tutorial of sorts (never played it, so don't know how good it is). The learning curve for the game is STEEP though.

Re: Heroes of Newerth going open beta

I played the tutorial, makes you understand the goal of the game and how to obtain items but thats it, not deep at all.

@ngoonee: do you know of any strategies/tips or some webpage to learn about the game?

Re: Heroes of Newerth going open beta

Works fine here. What happens if you start it from the tutorial?

And to learn to play it... just play it, listen to your teammates. Go through the 'Strategy' section of their forums, lots of people with way too much time giving illustrated guides (never really read them but some say they're very good for newbies).

You went to search, but then posted another post stating you had a certain problem, indicating that at the point of the 2nd post (which I replied to) you hadn't yet done the search.

In any case, hope it helped.
