GStreamer - occasional static, "burping"
GStreamer based apps give excellent audio output, but they also give me a bit of static. Every once in a while, Rhythmbox, for example, will give a short burst of static and distortion. It's not particularly loud, but it occurs at regular intervals and is rather annoying. This occurs only with GStreamer-based apps.
What's going on here?

Try changing your sound output to OSS if possible. The OSS plugin is more advanced than any others and does away with many bugs in audio codecs.

I'm using alsa-oss, with sound output set to OSS. I have to, because as of right now there's a bug that makes GStreamer screw up with alsasink. ESD is no good because it produces hideous buzzing noises, I don't feel like screwing around with jackd.
