Poll includes Arch as an option

I just put up a poll on OSNews.com asking our readers what's the most promising small Linux distro in their opinion.  Arch Linux is one of the options. You can vote here:

Yes, a plug for Arch, not a plug for OSNews. OSNews doesn't need the extra 100 hits, out of 250,000 per day, that it would get out of this thread. tongue

Re: Poll includes Arch as an option

People are always posting OSNews articles and such to this board. Somebody would certainly have linked to this; I don't see why it shouldn't be the original author of the poll.

Now let me predict how the second page of this thread will go once we get there "Is it, or is it not good for Arch and the Arch community if we get more publicity?"  roll

Thanks for the heads up Eugenia.

Re: Poll includes Arch as an option

If I can be slightly critical - what's the point of option 1, "I do not run such small distros"? It's obviously going to get the largest number of votes as long as it's there. I'd have left it out myself, and concentrated on the comparisons between the smaller distros.

Its point is obvious; its benefit is less so.

Re: Poll includes Arch as an option

Eugenia, I don't know if you posted your article in other "small distro" forums like you did here for ours, but from my own observation (from initial results):

The percentages would seem to reflect the vibrance (interest and overall participation) of the community for those particular distros, and which are more apt to progress further into the "bigger distro" markets.  Many upstart distros come and go in Linux.  By my estimation, it looks like at least 2 will continue adding to their base...

And, yes, I did vote...for Crux.
Just Kidding...
or am I?

muahahahah...

Re: Poll includes Arch as an option

stupid thing about the osnews polls, is that they have 100 or so options, and then one thats likely to streak ahead by a few miles.

heck, you cant even keep the question the same "most promising generic linux distro" and then "most promising small linux distro"

not to mention that that stupid poll box is just way to narrow.....

that's because it was made to fit on sidebars. The poll is outsourced.

Re: Poll includes Arch as an option

If Arch wins perhaps it isn't as small as they think they are...

And no, I'm not going to vote.

Re: Poll includes Arch as an option

Can't believe why some of you are hating on OSnews.com... That's one of the best websites out there, I like it very much.
Eugenia, just do your thing and don't listen to haters... After all I found Arch because of you.

much love

I realised that, but there is surely better solutions.

Not for the kind of thing we want to do (it should be js in order to be included inside a db blob, it should have no ads, and it should be free).
