Hi there !
I'm having problems booting the OS for the first time, I'm a complete noob when it comes to Archlinux
so I followed http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Off … tall_Guide this guide.
Everything went well, I can get into GRUB, I can choose to boot Archlinux and log in to root in text-mode but then I'm stuck.
I don't know how to make an account. The guide says that I should check out the examples in the AIF folder but there is no such thing in /usr/share.
As you can see I'm a complete noob and I probably just forgot to do something but could anyone tell me what I'm supposed to do now?
Thanks in advance !

Welcome to Arch Linux. The install guide is nice, but the beginner's guide is the best way to go. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … tup_groups
...actually, I'm not even really sure what the purpose of the install guide is with such a great beginner's guide.

Edit: I'm too slow.

Hello!
Welcome to Arch! I'd suggest printing and following this manual: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_Guide
It is actually more complex than Installation guide and if followed correctly, you shouldn't run into any problems.
Bye and tell us how it goes...
Ups... the other were faster than me... nevermind, follow the beginners guide.

General info - the official install guide is maintained by the dev team, and is intended for the kind of user that Arch is designed for. Typically, such a user would know how to create a user account, along with many other such operations, because they will have gained that experience over time, using other distros.
The beginners' guide, as you are now aware, is more detailed, and does not assume any particular level of linux experience or knowledge. It therefore allows people who may not have the skills normally expected of an Arch user to install and configure Arch.

Ah, I see, the closest I ever came to an arch-like install was a pre-installed slackware by my nephew
And btw guys I tried installing it and succeeded! Thanks everyone for the info and god bless Am.. Archlinux !

you can add a user using the adduser command (or use root [not recommended]) to add a user
