[solved]usb-install-image doesn't boot on intel D410PT motherboard

I tried to use the 2009-08-netinstall.img to install arch on my new atom machine. Its motherboard is intel D410PT. But the system does not boot at all, it stops at the BIOS post test with code 66. Soon I found this page
http://intel.com/support/motherboards/d … 008326.htm
it says that this motherboard does not support linux.

However, I can install FreeBSD and moblin(another linux distribution) on it. So what can I do to make it boot with arch? PS: I do not have a cd-rom.

Many thanks

You have to make the partition bootable.

Use UNIX or die.

you could try the images at http://build.archlinux.org/isos/
(those iso files can be dd'ed to usb drives)

OK,thank you, I will try.
I think my problem is because the kernel of 2009-08-netinstall.img does not support netbook. I found a kernel-netbook package on AUR.

Re: [solved]usb-install-image doesn't boot on intel D410PT motherboard

finally I installed arch on it.
I installed Fedora first, and then install arch from it.
what i need is a grub, and fedora can supply it.

Maybe you don't understand YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE PARTITION BOOTABLE ... it's a flag you have to set in fdisk. No active partitions will work with current bioses on those Intel desktopboards with Intel Atom! Fedora btw. does the "trick" mentioned above.

Furthermore I urge you to update your bios to the newest one. There are lots of bugs in it. I have both of them, an Intel D410PT and an Intel D510MO. Wild guessing of people who don't even own this kind of board isn't a solution.

Many thanks:)
Luckily I have installed arch on it. I wanna use this box to work as a BitTorrent-Donkey downloader and an NAT server and something like FTP server and Proxy sever, etc. I do not need X environment, and it made me feel terrible to remove packages like GNOME,Xorg when I am using Fedora. I just like Arch's KISS.

BTW, I don't have a monitor on hand. I will update BIOS next time.
Thank you again:)
