Hi,
I followed the instructions in the wiki(http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Epsxe_playstation_emulator) to install ePSXe, however when I run epsxe in a terminal I get:
Creating /home/ben/.epsxe/After that nothing happens. No errors, no nothing. Can anyone help?
Also during the install the following warnings occurred for epsxe-plugin-gpu-xgl2, epsxe-plugin-padjoy and epsxe-plugin-spu-alsa.
warning: directory permissions differ on opt/epsxe/cfg/
filesystem: 775 package: 755
warning: directory permissions differ on opt/epsxe/plugins/
filesystem: 775 package: 755I tried chmod 755 on the directories however this made no difference.

Not really related to this bug, but...
ePSXe for Linux is slightly outdated compared to Windoze version. Why don't you try psx emulator instead ('psx' from AUR)? It's much simpler and pretty stable.

This looks to me like an issue with the expse-launcher-python script. When you ran it, did it create ~/.epsxe and all the other directories it was supposed to?

Thanks for the help. From what I can tell the launcher made the correct directories. A link to: bios, cfg, plugins, epsxe, epsxe-old and keycodes.lst. The folders: memcards, snap and sstate.
As for psx how do you build it for a 64 bit system?

I may be wrong about this, but isn't psx freeware, but not open source?
I'd really recommend you use epsxe however, as it has a lot of features which allow you to improve the graphics.
If you can't get the linux version running, you may want to consider running the windows version of epsxe through wine. It is a newer version and might run better anyway. It works perfectly in wine-- for me it runs much better and faster though wine then on windows. I dual-boot, so I've tried both. The plugins I use are gpupeteogl for graphics, the built in sound plugin, and the built in WNT/W2K core for cdrom.

So it turns out I didn't install lib32-gtk and without it you won't get any error messages. Anyway everything works now, thanks again for the help. I should have posted in Newbie Corner.

Hey.
A bit late, but: The epsxe package has been updated in AUR - confirmed working on i686 and x64, both.
And exactly:
When you ran it, did it create ~/.epsxe and all the other directories it was supposed to?
The Python script creates all needed folders in your home. Plugin folder et cetera are symlinks to /opt/epsxe/{...,...}.
If anyone get the same problem. :o)

"psx" is very nice in it's simplicity and very accurate Playstation emulation. I used to dig epsxe, but prefer psx now.
Either way, it's great to have the choice - thanks to the AUR package maintainers!
