Hello everyone, i have 2 unresolved issues for a long time. so here's how it starts.
Issue 1.
after 'pacman -Syu' few weeks ago, my firefox 3.6-2 and thunderbird 3.0.3-1 have all got this slow responsive symptoms. i don't know whether there are more apps have got this problem. whether i scroll up/down a page, or right click pop-up menu, i just have to wait for 5+ seconds... and is totally unusable. later i found out that downgrading cairo-1.8.10-1 to cairo-1.8.8-2 can resolve this issue.
and few days ago, i checked that firefox has upgraded to 3.6.2-1, and i thought maybe this issue is already fixed with the new package. but to my disappointment, it still act the way used to be.
but there're apps depend on cairo>=1.8.10 (firefox, xulrunner, gtk2, poppler ...) , and i can't ignore it forever. so i googled around and found this post have got the simptoms similar to mine.

upgrading xf86-video-openchrome 0.2.904-1 to 0.2.904-2 got my screen messed up, anyone got the same problem?
hope i've got my problem discribed clearly, hoping can get it fixed ![]()

well, i'm still using xorg.conf, at least still needs it for touchpad setting.
i've tried again just now, and it worked!!! and it also fixed my cairo firefox problem
Thanks for your help!!!:)
it seemed cairo need to Depends On : xf86-video-openchrome>=0.2.904-2
curious though I've tried delete xorg.conf and 'Xorg -configure' to generate xorg.conf.new before but both didn't work. maybe it's related to xorg-utils updates

Well congrat,
What about without xorg.conf at all? it's work? with proper screen resolution off course
Just rename your working xorg.conf to anything else (for backup), then reboot

yes it works fine without xorg.conf, and I just found out that issue1 occurs when the EXA mode was enabled in xorg.conf. switching back to the default XAA and it was all fine again.
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
seemed to me that cairo 1.8.10 is not "compatible" with EXA mode, or that is a bug for openchrome

Oh i see, perhaps it's "drm" problem. because X starting complain about missing drm module.
EXA never work for me.,.
