New USB mouse = funky scroll wheel...

This ain't your normal "I can't get my 3rd button or wheel to work" type post.

I just bought a 'Microsoft USB optical scroll' mouse.  I used to have a logitech optical, but it's been 'put out to pasture' in a cardboard box with my DIMM sticks and PCI VGA cards...

* This new mouse scroll wheel is too damn sensitive.  If I just sneeze or blink, the whole screen will move up and down on me.  How do I decrease that button sensitivity in 'xorg.conf'?  Is that possible there or by another means?

hmmm, good question.... is the mouse one of those side-scrolling ones? those are sweet... though I doubt they work in linux just yet...

It is an M$ mouse, so you see my dilemna...

I actually try out mouse wheels before I buy them... I can't stand the smooth-moving ones... I need that clicky-ness... it feels better

Well then, I guess I'm truly fscked.  Where are you XFCE when I need you most???

I think I'm just going to disable this scroll wheel completely.  You barely touch it and it bounces the screen up and down, instead of just going down like it should...

Re: New USB mouse = funky scroll wheel...

I'd take it back, I had a one of those mice and the scroll wheel had a mind of its one. I would be reading a webpage and all of a sudden the stupid thing would bump the page up or down on me. Finally I broke down and got this 20.00 logitec optical at best buy and its fine.
