Latest upgrade broke wifi on eeepc901 [SOLVED]

Hi

Just upgraded today, which included the kernel upgrade (2.6.33.2-1), and the wifi networks are not showing up on nm-applet.

(I have network manager running on openbox and clicking on the applet shows the wifi as being enabled but no networks found)

iwconfig shows wlan0 as being present.

iwlist wlan0 scan gives:

wlan0 Failed to read scan data : Network is down

ifconfig wlan0 up

SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory

Anyone know what is going on?

Appreciate any help...

Same too me.

I solved it adding in the module line of /etc/rc.conf:  !rt2800pci

Re: Latest upgrade broke wifi on eeepc901 [SOLVED]

Hi,

You can try to come back to the 2.6.32 kernel.

I had to do this on my Eeepc1005PEB to be able to use the network cards... With the kernel version 2.6.33, any access to the wifi card leads to a big mess...

I think I'll wait for the next release, or for a solution, but things are ok this way.

(PS: I'm a French user, and I hope my english level is not too bad... Excuse my mistakes please :$)

That worked for me smile

I remember checking the dmesg log and seeing something about rt2800 but didn't realise that it was causing the problem.

Appreciate the help jpatufet smile

I understood you and that's usually the most important thing when speaking or writing foreign languages wink
