Why don't you want to upgrade nvidia/nvidia-utils ?

Why don't you want to upgrade nvidia/nvidia-utils ?
because of the segmentation fault, described in the link in my post.

You could build nvidia and nvidia-utils yourself, just change the pkgver to the one you want.

See this:

how can I build archlinux Xorg package with debug symbols?

maybe try:
1) uninstall whatever Arch linux package for nvidia/nvidia-utils
2) update kernel
3) install nvidia binary version that you know worked (from nvidia site) directly (this will install driver module and utils).
4) remember that nvidia is not installed from packages.
