System Upgrade screwed up Gnome?

Hey. So I did a system upgrade, can't remember the exact packages, but anyway when I rebooted it seems to have screwed up Gnome, or X, idk.

I get to the loading daemon stage, prints "Waiting for uDev events to be processed" then the resolution seems to change to fit my screen, this never usually happened before, then the other daemons load and I'm given a bash prompt.

startx give me;

/usr/bin/X: error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.0.9.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errono3): Server error.

Next error, do you have .xinitrc file at $HOME?

Thanks, that solves that issue, but the resolution still changes when loading the daemons. Is there any way to have it so it stays at the default, larger resolution like before? It's highly annoying.
