Re: Kernel 2.6.32 does not work with RT2860 Wireless Card

2.6.33 fixes the problem for me. I had to build it from source but if you have the patience it works great. Either that or stick with 2.6.31 until 33 is released.

Re: Kernel 2.6.32 does not work with RT2860 Wireless Card

As of 2.6.32.5-1 my wireless device is working again. Interface is named wlan0.
Stability seems to have been improved a lot from my latest kernal upgrade!

Re: Kernel 2.6.32 does not work with RT2860 Wireless Card

With kernel26 2.6.32.7-1, I am still have problems with the rt2860sta drivers.  Oddly, every once in a while it will just work, and then perhaps cut out randomly.  I am able to scan for AP SSID's.  Even more oddly, it just connected as I was typing this.  However, it fails significantly more than it works.   I use wicd, and I notice when it trying to connect to an AP and it fails, instead of saying

ap_essid: connecting...

it simply says

:Connecting...

and when it does work it displays the ESSID.

Is anyone else still have trouble with this chip?

Thanks,
Ryan

I bought an Atheros card, and replaced my rt2860 card with it. No more problems for me. smile

Try the 2.6.33 RC kernel.

Re: Kernel 2.6.32 does not work with RT2860 Wireless Card

Hi,

Sorry to bring up this thread yet again...

Basically, each time there is a new kernel available in core/AUR I try it out, and none have worked thus far.  I always end up reverting back to 2.6.30, which has absolutely no problems.   Is it possible (or perhaps more appropriately, "difficult") to extract the appropriate drivers from 2.6.30 and compile 2.6.32 (or whatever is currently stable) with them?  I am becoming more and more interested in custom kernels, and maybe this is a good time to start learning (not that it is related, but I find the BFS scheduler to be quite interesting.  I would like to take the drivers which are compatible with my hardware from 2.6.30 and compile 2.6.32 with them and BFS).

Thanks,
Ryan

Similar thread here, some users seem to have got it working again.
