where's my sound gone??

hello, hard to believe but yesterday everything was fine, I gave a yaourt -Syyu, and today no more sound from my laptop!!quite annoying

ok I corrected the problem via alsamixer but I don't understand where the problem came from!!!

As you didn't tell us which packages were installed, it really is hard to deduce where the problem might have come from.

right, but I didnt pay much attention on what was updated...the problem now is solved but I just complain about the fact that....there's very often a problem!!

There very often isn't a problem! If you don't know where pacman puts it's logs check the Wiki.

Most likely you still have the previous packages (from before -Syu) cached on your system (unless you explicitly cleared them). If need be, you can downgrade to an earlier version.

However, make sure your sound isn't working (it might be, for instance that the volume got turned down, or the new package overrode previous settings...check to see if pacman backed up any settings).
