I have installed Vmware Server from AUR. It seems like it works fine for a short time. I can access the web interface after the initial configuration is done. But the problem is that is suddenly stops responding after a while. I still have not got to the point where I have installed a virtual OS. I have just created the virtual machine itself.
A couple of times is has worked with restarting the Vmware daemon. But most of the time I just get an "Unable to connect" message when I try to connect to it trough Firefox. Opera gives the same result. But telnet seems to get contact.
I'm trying to get this to work in
# uname -a
Linux ArchT400 2.6.32-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Mar 15 20:44:03 CET 2010 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
Does anyone have an idea on what might be the problem?

There is no vmware-modconfig in my vmware-server installation.
It works fine after a reinstall of the server and the modules. But just for a little while.
I have not changed kernel after the initial installation.

It has now been working for some time. It seems like Firefox 3.6.2 is causing some problems. It don't work with the Vmware console plugin. I have tried to downgrade to Firefox 3.5.7, but then I only get a...
$ firefox
Couldn't load XPCOM.
Have also downgraded xulrunner to 1.9.7.1 and nss to 3.12.4.
Tested from a Win7 computer with IE8, and it works fine.

I downgraded Firefox to 3.5.7 and I got the Vmware console to work.
But the Vmware server stills get unresponsive from time to time.

I managed to install Windows 7 in Vmware Server yesterday. And it worked fine, except that my whole system became very unresponive together with the Windows 7 installation. But it did work. I rebooted my computer today and started up the vmware deamon, and no luck in connecting to the server. I only get an 'Unable to connect' error in Firefox. To fix this, I will have to remove /etc/vmware and install vmware-server over again.
So at the moment, Virtualbox is winning hands down. It don't slow down my hole system, and Windows feels as fast as it was running not in a VM. And it works. The only issue is very slow IO.
Vmware Workstation 6 was alot faster than the Server version. Maybe I shuld try it instead. Just have to find a PGKBUILD for it.
