Changeing duration and frequency of beep?

Hi,
this default pc speaker beep in Xorg annoys me, so I tried all the given solutions from this thread: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dis … eaker_beep, and from arch wiki page, for disabilng it. The only solution that works for me is blacklisting pc_spkr from modules in /etc/rc.conf file.

Now, this could sound a little "perverse" to someone, but I don't want to completely turn off beep, I just want to lower it's duration and frequency in Xorg. The only way that I know of is by using:

xset b [and now numbers]

But unfortunately this doesn't work even for disabling it, so what cold be the reason for this? I don't think it's something wrong with the kernel, because if I don't start X, in terminal I can accomplish what I want with this command:

setterm -blength 4

Is it a bug, or should I use something else for solution?

Thnx
