I updated my system to Gnome 2.10 and for the most part it's ok. Looking under the Applications menu, however, it appears that everything I had done to customize the way it was set up is gone. I know I can't salvage that, but now I can't seem to add items to the menu at all. How does one do things like that w/ 2.10? Under 2.8 all I had to do was right-click and I'd get an option to add a launcher but now all I see is 'add to panel' and 'entire menu -> add this as menu/drawer' Do I suddenly have to be root to do this?

Looking through the help documentation (can you believe it?!) I find reference to a Panel Preferences. Unfortunately, under Desktop -> Preferences, there is no option for Panel Preferences so this might actually be a bug. Can somebody confirm?

Right now, there's no practical way for changing the application menu in GNOME 2.10. They switched to freedesktop.org recommendations, and the menu editor is not done yet.
You'll have to live with it or go XML file hacking by hand. Some people suggest using the KDE menu editor, but that one doesn't work for me either ...

Ah -- ok. No problem.. I can wait. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something fundamental. Thanks!

Hmm, about the help... gnome2-user-docs is still 2.8, so I'll look for an update
