Hello together,
i used Teamviewer (a free remote control software, working without configuration of firewalls, ports, or routers) regulary und Windows, and it was until now THAT tool, that i really missed under linux. RealVNC and its alternatives weren't so easy for configuration, especially if you like to help someone over remote, who isn't so exeperienced. Today i regoznized a linux version of Teamviewer. Its free for non-commercial usage. It's a one-file executable, and works flawless, although its beta. I'm not associated with their company , i simply like using it.
Greetings,
Vinschni

Vinschni,
nice. Friends of mine use it, but for the moment I have been using LogMein and/or Hamachi to support
some family members.
I will give teamviewer a try.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Yes thats not so nice. I thought they would reimplement it for Linux, because they even made it for iPhone available... Maybe they make a real port for linux if wine dosn't allow them to enable all featues of teamviewer. Would be better

Just curious. Will an AUR package be made for TeamViewer? Thanks!

WINE or not, it helps Linux adoption in my family ... every tool they can keep on using after the switch is a good thing, in my opinion.
For myself I'm going to stay with the WIN version I'm running under WINE, it does everything I need for that occasional look on a family PC.

I just read that (dare I say) Skype has screen sharing included with the Linux version. Has anyone tried this out?

Yep, skype works a treat. You need to call to use the screen sharing option.
