Hi,
I have performance problems with the current nvidia driver from the repos - while everything works performance has gone down to ~30% of the 190. version. However with the kernel update I cannot downgrade the driver either since the old wone will not build against 2.6.33.
Has anyone a suggestion besides downgrading it all?
Regards,
MC.
Edit: Here is a pastebin of my glxinfo -from the little lines i understand it seems ok. Unfortunately I dont even know where to start looking for what caused this performance drop for me.

I'm having the same problems. With the older driver, 190.something, performance was alright, but now X uses about 30-60% memory constantly and has a cpu time of 32:19.53. Right now I'm running xorg1.8 from the repos, but, before that, I had xorg1.7.(whatever was newest) and the performance was even worse. Hopefully this gets cleared up soon...
***EDIT*** It appears that my problem stemmed from multiple windows of urxvt opened using a xft for the font control. As of right now xft is practically unusable in urxvt for me, but just switching from xft has removed all of my problems

Unfortunately my problem prevails: I tried manually rebuilding the driver, also I tried with a new xorg.conf to avoid having any misconfigurations in there.
This is probably uncorrelated, but I also noticed X starts now on the 8th terminal instead of the 7th. Where do I set this?

Have you added a c7 line to your /etc/inittab? Something like:
c7:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty3

No, my inittab lists only 6 consoles.
I dont get one on the "alt-ctrl-f7-screen" either, its just empty.
