I have a Lexicon Alpha soundcard, which works nicely with Linux. I'm sure it's handled by udev on bootup (I have autoload modules selected in my rc.conf).
However, when its unplugged while I'm using my laptop, in order for it to work once plugged back in, I need to reboot. This is a bit annoying.
Any ideas how enable hotplugging for this device?
Thanks.

Oh, nevermind! It was my fault all along.
I happened to plug in my webcam at the same time as unplugging my usb sound card. My webcam's microphone then took the hw(2, 0) spot, and my soundcard, when plugged back in, swapped to hw(3, 0). This meant that MPD couldn't play through the webcam mic, hence errors.
Apologies!
