I installed GNOME on my Arch setup as my only DE a while ago, and I decided to test some things out in another user account. I opened users-admin (aka the GUI for adding new users) and added a new user ("student"). I logged out to try it but I couldn't log in as the new account at all. I logged back into my main account and checked users-admin again, and it said the account was disabled. I enabled it over and over but every time I tried logging into my account, it failed. Does anybody else have this problem? What might be causing it?

Did you give password to your account?
passwd student

Yes I did; still didn't fix my issue. I tried re-creating the user with "adduser" and it worked great, but I'd like to be able to create it with GNOME.

Hm. Now its a question for GNOME-users, because seems to be gnome specific bug. Maybe you are missing some package...
