USB mouse not detected at boot .. after docking

I don't know why or when this started, but today I realized my mouse is not working until I plug it out and back in. After that, every thing's working without problems. Any suggestions?

Are you using a USB mouse or a PS/2?

no. it's really the simple USB power rates at work. infamous issue in Windows (at least XP).

I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

Re: USB mouse not detected at boot .. after docking

My problem was _just_ gone. Yesterday I tried to boot a few times failing with the mouse every time. One thing I did today though, was that the first time I booted this morning, I enabled usb support from bios (meaning usb booting) and I thought "that was it!" ..but I had to make sure and here I am, usb bios support disabled with the mouse working without a problem. *me not understanding*
..goes kind of off topic, but..
I bought this thinkPad second handed "as it was" just a couple of weeks ago, so I really don't _know_ if this kind of stuff is happening just because.. and I wasn't told / or the seller didn't know about it at the time of the deal, but I seriously doubt that'd be the case. The other usb port isn't working at all and I haven't got usb booting to work yet, so I guess I'm opening this up some day to check the usb port's soldering joints, I've read it's a problem with newer thinkPads too. While it's open, I'll see if there are other suspicious looking things inside..
Maybe an internal jealous mouse?  tongue

On a side note, USB wear and tear is not uncommon wink

Maybe you're confounding this option with something called "Legacy USB Support", or something like that. It disables the USB ports if it does not detect a peripheral when booting. Would make sense if your mouse is unreliable.

Re: USB mouse not detected at boot .. after docking

I realized this just yesterday.. When my laptop is disconnected from my port replicator and then reconnected to it, the mouse isn't detected. After a disconnect mouse -> connect mouse -> reboot,  everything's back to normal. I don't really consider it as a true head ache, but still, is there a way to make it work without the manual "unplug and plug it in and then play" sort of a bahvior?

Sakari

EDIT:
The usb port which I'm using for my mouse is the port replicator's usb port.

Usually these problems occur when there is laking of power supply is present with the USB HUB.Some motherboards consumes more power supply due to the internal lagging of power to USB HUB.
Try to change the USB panel with the help of your hardware engineer.
