Framebuffer Resolution and hwinfo

I'm trying to change my framebuffer resolution but am finding no tools to obtain the vga value needed for the kernel line. Are there any tools other than hwinfo (as the aur package is no longer working) that can give me the value I need?

Thanks-
jd

Re: Framebuffer Resolution and hwinfo

I think extra/vbetool can be used for this. Plus you might want to look at KMS, depending on your video card.

Re: Framebuffer Resolution and hwinfo

Have you tried booting with your kernel line containing

vga=ask

?

That should list supported resolutions, once you know the supported resolutions, you can probably work backwards to figure out the proper parameter to pass on the kernel line.

Or you can boot off the i686-images, install lrmi onto the ramdisk and run vbetest that way.
