Device driver programming

Hi,

I have 4 months of free time ahead of me, so I thought about getting into some serious programming. What I'm thinking about is writing a device driver (a wireless card). I know my way around in C, Objective-C and (some) C++.

Do you think it is a realistic goal to learn some things (not everything!) about device driver programming? If so, do you have any good resources for learning (in the end I want to code the driver for Haiku, but I'm fine with Linux driver programming resources, too).

Thanks for advice, ideas, resources, etc.... !

Very nice resource which I used for a university course. It´s for linux. I don´t know how Haiku´s driver stack is different, but this will get you some basic knowledge.
