Hey folks,
I just simultaneously released 0.1+milestone-4 of Ensmer core, which is feature complete and begging for testing, and milestone-2 of EnsmerMail which is approaching feature complete and wouldn't mind having a few tests as well.
Announcement: https://ensmer.dev.java.net/servlets/Ne … temID=2000
Screenshots:
https://ensmer.dev.java.net/servlets/Pr … folderID=0
(only screenshots for EnsmerMail were added, since the core hasn't visually changed since 0.1+milestone-3)
I'm going to be starting on my final report and some comparison next week, in between testing both projects and writing a second frontend for EnsmerMail. I'd love it if anybody else could come up with some bugs (not major ones, I hope! ) for me to fix as well.
cheers,
Dusty

PKGBUILD for Ensmer Core:
pkgname=ensmer
pkgver=0.1+milestone4
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="Ensmer is an extensible object oriented 3D interface"
url="http://ensmer.dev.java.net"
license="BSD/Apache style licence"
depends=('j2re>=1.5.0' java3d)
makedepends=(apache-ant)
source=(https://ensmer.dev.java.net/files/documents/2312/11941/file_11941.dat?filename=Ensmer-0.1+milestone-4-src.jar ensmer)
build() {
mkdir -p $startdir/pkg/usr/bin
mkdir -p $startdir/pkg/usr/share/ensmer
cd $startdir/src
mv file_11941.dat?filename=Ensmer-0.1+milestone-4-src.jar ensmer.jar
jar xf ensmer.jar
cd Ensmer-0.1+milestone-4-src/
ant dist
cp -r dist/* $startdir/pkg/usr/share/ensmer
cp $startdir/src/ensmer $startdir/pkg/usr/bin
chmod a+x $startdir/pkg/usr/bin/ensmer
}
EnsmerMail is probably easier installed manually for now.

I just released EnsmerMail milestone-3, which is fully feature complete and begging, absolutely begging to be tested/crashed.
Check out the screenshots utilizing the new medieval e-mail frontend:
https://ensmer.dev.java.net/servlets/Pr … derID=2470
I've included the mail checker suggested in an earlier post, and have full and relatively sound support for simple pop3 and smtp accounts.
If anybody can spare a little time to download and test both Ensmer and EnsmerMail, I'd be greatly obliged. I'm submitting this project sometime next week and I'd rather somebody other than my prof found the bugs first.
I think I'll continue developing EnsmerMail after I graduate. I think by the time I release EnsmerMail 0.2 I may be using it as my main e-mail program!

I released the stable versions of both projects today. As before, I don't have a PKGBUILD for EnsmerMail, install it according to the directions on theEnsmer Home Page.

makedepends=(apache-ant)
source=(https://ensmer.dev.java.net/files/documents/2312/12264/Ensmer-0.2-src.jar ensmer)
build() {
mkdir -p $startdir/pkg/usr/bin
mkdir -p $startdir/pkg/usr/share/ensmer
cd $startdir/src
jar xf Ensmer-0.2-src.jar
cd Ensmer-0.2-src/
ant dist
cp -r dist/* $startdir/pkg/usr/share/ensmer
cp $startdir/src/ensmer $startdir/pkg/usr/bin
chmod a+x $startdir/pkg/usr/bin/ensmer

feedback welcome!

I would love to break/crash this Ensmer stuff but I've given up on closed source so I don't have Java or 3d available but I promise that I will break your next project instead if it's open source based,

Java3D is sort of open source. You can get it under either of these licenses:
https://java3d.dev.java.net/jrl.html
https://java3d.dev.java.net/jdl-java3d.pdf
I dout Java3D will work with any of the open source Java JVMs though. Haven't tried it. Ensmer requires full Java 5 capabilities anyway. ;-)
