Arch 0.7 on an LP2000R with Netraid problem

I'm trying to install arch on a friends server - I was bragging it up, and all of the sudden, time for install, and it won't work.

For some reason, when I go to partition the drives, non show up (they are scsi in a raid 5 array connected to a netraid controller).  I've tried modprobe on the following modules...

sym53c8xx - which is already there, but won't add it
ataraid
megaraid
ide-scsi

These were found in Knoppix.  Non of the above load and as a result, we have no scsi drives to partition.  If anyone has any solutions, please let me know.

Thanks.

Re: Arch 0.7 on an LP2000R with Netraid problem

Arch 0.7 appears to have a bad scsi merge.  We inserted the 0.6 install disc and ran arch-scsi and it successfully found the scsi raid.  Is there any way to fix this in 0.7 so I can install it soon?  Or am I stuck with 0.6?

So much for impressing my buddy (a Fedora fan).

If the 0.6 iso works, use it to install a base system. Once your system is running, just do a

pacman -Syu

to get an up-to-date system.

Thanks.  I know that is what I have to do, but then we have to go through converting from devfs to udev and it just makes me question what happened to 0.7?  We lost functionality.

I haven't used the 0.7 iso. Maybe someone else will be able to give more info about that. Or, perhaps, there is a bug with the 0.7 iso.

Why not just FTP install from the 0.6 iso. That way your all upto date from the start and you have the working scsi from the 0.6iso aswell. In theory by this persepective you could install from a 0.1iso and do the same thing and never know the difference beyond the installer from the cd.

Yes... that's the best solution.  I don't know why I didn't thought about it wink as it's how I installed Arch Linux.

Re: Arch 0.7 on an LP2000R with Netraid problem

Just tried the ftp install from the 0.6 disc.  When I get to the point of installing packages, I get an error

error downloading pacman! try another server

And then we tried another server with the same problems.  So, pacman won't download.  Therefore, we are at an impass again.

I've never had such difficulties with an Arch install and I've done it many many times.

Any ideas?  I'm still trying to show off Arch to my friend.  I'm still holding hope that we can get this going.

Thanks
