[solved]Should keyboard still be working while suspending to RAM?

When I suspend my ASUS laptop, a simple click of any of my keyboard keys wakes the whole machine up. One issue is that this can cause my machine to be accidentally woken from suspend, but the other thing that concerns me is that keeping the keyboard 'on' must be draining battery in some way.

Is it a bug with my particular system or just the way that suspend-to-RAM works? I'm using pm-utils along with the tuxonice kernel.
