I just installed a second Arch 64 Gnome.
Thought this might save some time for us Gnome users.
GDM:
I used gdm 2.20 from the AUR "gdm-old 2.20.10-2" rather than gdm 2.30.
Because,
GDM Arch Themes:
I like the gdm arch themes in the AUR "archlinux-themes-gdm-old 1.4-2" This package installed the new Arch themes incorrectly to be available for me.
To fix it, I gksu Nautilus'd to:
/usr/share/gdm/themes/ <a sub folder> / <various arch themes>
I moved the individual arch theme folders directly under the /usr/share/gdm/themes folder, to work.
Nautilus:
By default, the location option wasn't set to default.
To fix it, open gconf editor, go to /apps/nautilus/prefrences and check the "Always use the location entry"
Hmmm I'm interested if anyone actually likes the new "obscure, hidden" way to switch this?

gconf editor = configuration editor It's a different name for the same thing.
And yes I agree with you, without it, it would be more difficult.
The point I was making is, you didn't have to do this with gconf editor-configuration editor, in the earlier versions of Nautilus.

No, I don't really understand why the option has been removed from "File Management Preferences". It's quite easy to change through gconf-editor, at least if you know what to look for - but I don't see the point of having a graphical configuration utility for nautilus in the first place if they start hiding some of the most used options.
Slightly off-topic: I personally like the "pathbar" in nautilus. If you're using the mouse, it makes tabbed file management easier (middle click a button in the pathbar), and makes it easier to drag and drop the current or any parent directory into eg. a shell. If you use the keyboard, Ctrl+L temporarily reactivates the good ol' location bar anyway, so it shouldn't really matter.
[EDIT]
In case my post made me seem slightly schizophrenic, let me clarify:
I like the nautilus pathbar, my complaint is that the configuration option should be easily available for those of you who don't.
