Today I installed arch on my notebook and everything works fine except the mic. I tried in skype but it can't capture any input from the mic (tried with the mic fromthe webcam and plugging a mic). In alsamixer Surround is enable and set max.I tried the input source MIC and Front mic.. but it doesn't work. What can I do?

Same problem here (on a different laptop). Looks like a bug which also happened on Ubuntu. But the latter has fixed it now. I am waiting for an update.

I have an Acer 5920 and Skype used to work fine- until I reinstalled Arch for a different reason, and Skype would not detect my mic. I have tried many different settings, and still no mic output, whether front mic or regular.
No idea if its a bug and whether its been corrected.
Edit: OK, anyone that thinks their mic is not working, please go through the ALSA wiki at http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/Record_from_mic. In my case all i needed to do was press space to enable the capture devices. and that has got my mic working again.
