So I downloaded the archlinux-2009.08-netinstall-i686.img USB image and UNetBootin for Windows, and it did not install the image correctly to my USB drive.
I have plenty of space (it's an 8GB drive), and I have successfully put a number of other distros on the drive, and all while using UNetBootin on Windows.
I even tried installing it on my linux machine using the dd command and the instructions on this page: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ins … _USB_stick
Anyone else having these problems?
Can't have fun trying Arch out if I can't even put it on my install media

Try downloading the image again it may be corrupt. Have you checked md5sum?
You can also try the testing builds found here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=94687
or tpowa's images: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=95503v

How exactly did this not work? Was there an error message? What was the output in response to the dd command?

I tried the April 19th image, which according to what I read replaces the .img USB image. It worked with unetbootin, but once I booted into it, there was some error (can't remember it, gonna have to try it again to see the actual error).

Can't remember, didn't write it down...but it is inconsequential as the image wasn't working with any method.

if you try it again and post the error message you were getting, we might be able to help a little better. I agree with Ashren that you might want to try the newer testing builds.
