Wifi was working fine as always, but after an empty battery and hard shut down, wicd 1.7.0 shows the message "No wireless networks found".
I have been messing with rc.conf quite a lot, so now I can't remember what it was like when everything still worked.
iwconfig doesn't mention something like wlan at all.
Can't seem to figure out what's wrong and hope to get it back right with your help,

wpa_supplicant and wireless_tools are both installed.

please look in the BIOS. Perhaps wlan is disabled.

You're right, it was disabled.
It's fixed now, wifi works again
