Hi, I've an external monitor plug-in to the laptop by hdmi. The laptop screen looks great but the external monitor has blurry fonts, especially when it starts to reach the top edge. The external monitor has a resolution of 1680x1050 and the laptop 1920x1080. Does my external just sucks or could be a font configuration problem?
Thanks!

It was really a problem with the font that was awful.

What configs do you use? Can you post them? What's the output of 'xrandr'?
Do you use both your laptop screen *and* the external at the same time or do you switch to the external?
A bit OT: what laptop gets you 1920x1080? Dell Studio? I was just looking for one w/ hi-res.

Check your DPI setting. I suggest you use e.g.:
Option "DPI" "120 x 120"
That's what I use with 1920x1080.
Fonts can be tweaked - see huge fonts thread.

(Emphasis mine)
Is it an LCD or a CRT?
Were you trying to display the laptop's image on the external monitor downscaled?

Thanks for the replies guys. The laptop is a sony vaio fw. I was using lucinda and changed it to terminus and now it displays great. It could have been a dpi issue but the strange thing is that the closer to the top edge the blurred it would get. I haven't done much tweaking because the new font is much better and its not blurred. The external monitor is a lcd.

Remember, terminus is not a scalable font, you need to pick the right size: 12, 14, 16, 20, 22, 24, 28 or 32.
