Hi
One small question. Latest kernel26 update wants to pull kernel26-firmware as its dependency. At the same time, files packaged in kernel26-firmware (those in /lib/firmware) already exist in filesystem, because they were installed by kernel26zen-git. Therefore whole update fails to proceed. Zen's PKGBUILD contains kernel26-firmware in 'provides' array. Of course I could always use -f switch, but I don't like forcing anything. Are there any workarounds?

Add it to the CONFLICTS array of kernel26zen-git
since 2009

That, in turn, results in pacman trying to remove kernel26zen-git. Update fails when I refuse to remove that package. Maybe adding something to the REPLACES array could help?

the best thing would be to fix the kernel26zen-git pkgbuild so that it doesn't provide the firmware, but has it in a seperate pkg like the stock kernel does.

Thanks for posting, I think I will ask upstream.

This is an Arch packaging issue - upstream developers will not have the solution.
If it helps, I omit the firmware from my custom kernel to avoid this.

By upstream I actually meant packager. What exactly are you doing with firmware? I think I don't quite understand 'omit' in this context.

Like you, I have both the stock kernel and a custom kernel installed, so I install the kernel26-firmware package from the repos, and I don't install any firmware with my custom kernel.

Thanks again.
