Arch Live Medium

A friend of mine bought a new EeePC and was not able to install Archlinux becease the kernel of the installation medium is to old (2.6.30).

He´s now running Arch waiting for a new LiveCD...... when will it come?

I ran into the same problem installing on my new laptop - the core software was too old for my hardware. It is possible to drop to shell and do a pacman -Syu, but to use the upgraded kernel, that is the hard part. It would be cool if you could write changes to the usb drive? I feel like this is totally possible but Im not sure how to go about it.
Anyone have an idea?

There's a wiki page about remastering the install iso, if you're interested. But if you're going to do that, it would be quicker and easier to use the test images linked above. Read the thread about them for more details.

Before you reboot just chroot into the new installation and update again.

Are these testing builds also available as img to use them with a usb flash drive?
