We already have a lot of lib32-* stuff in official packages. Why not to add also so commonly used program? (in top 5 AUR packages)
In fact, usually all these 32bit libraries are really needed exactly for wine (maybe for skype also). So why not include wine as well? It will be much more convenient.

you should ask the current maintainer why is not moving in community. he's actually a TU
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

The Arch-Games repo hosts bin32-wine also.

Wine offers a 32bit-prefix for 64bit Wine-Version. See release notes for wine 1.1.44. It's also the goal of the wine-devs to provide 32bit-support for 64bit wine (a wine-dev said, that this is already possible, something like "wow64" = "wine on wine64").
So I don't think, you need a bin32-wine at all.

you need, since our toolchain is not multilib and that feature cannot be used

I was under the impression that bin32-* packages were not allowed in [community].
With a glance at the repo, I see a lot of lib32-* packages, but no bin32.
wonder, are you fairly certain moving bin32-wine and its dependencies to [community] would be fine?
If so, I'll get on it.

sure, why not? let me know what lib32 stuff you need since i'm maintaining all. also be sure you got the same layout with optdepends on bin32-wine as wine.

Back when the lib32/bin32 naming convention developed, lib32 packages were always official Arch packages setup and moved to /opt with /etc/ld.so.conf updated, just like they are today. If memory serves me correctly, the first bin32 packages begin as repackaged Gentoo libraries.

I am a bit confused. So, you have to build wine in a multilib to enable this feature, but then the binary could be used on a pure 64bit system to run 32bit windows applicationts.
Or is this simply mean, that you no longer need a 32bit and a 64bit wine installed, to run 32bit binaries if you have a multilib system.

Three weeks have passed but still no progress on this. Why?

Noone here works for you, sir. A bit more politeness would be good. Even better would be actually contacting the TU in question, I assume you've read the thread.

No offense, just wondering. From the discussion in this thread it seems that this is possible. So I'm wondering why the transition from AUR to [community] not happened yet?

Please wonder without using phrases that sound like a director ordering his minions around then =p.
As I said previously, you could check with the TU involved. Most likely its simply that he did not have the time/interest to get round to it.

What ngoone said. It's the end of the school year and I'm working on finals, etc.
I will get around to it, though, especially for 1.2 which is coming soon.
Camping with the family right now and using nefarious means to get even the barest means of Wi-Fi from a very old laptop, but I'll make this a mini-project for next weekend unless another end-of-year project pops up.

That probably is a language barrier. I wanted to ask politely, really. I'm sorry for that.

Isn't it good for extra? The package is very popular and has no license issues.

I don't think bin32/lib32 packages can go into extra, Arch isn't multilib.

Wine 64 should be multilib in the future no?
Offline
Perhaps. Which would just mean (maybe) that it has to go to community too.

If you do not like to wait, it would take less time to get it done yourself.

Wow. Shouldn't happen if you're not root.

Sometimes I get into a pissy mood and don't want sudo yelling at me anymore xD
In a basic X environment already, at least.
