Hi,
I put my proxy settings in pacman.conf and pacman works fine but yaourt and abs cannot seem to see this. How do I get them to work under a proxy?
Thanks

Hi, for yaourt you have to set "http_proxy" in /etc/wgetrc

thanks for that but what about abs?

abs use rsync. According man rsync, you can set the variable RSYNC_PROXY.

I've done this but it doesn't work for me... I still get "transient resolver failure" error but pacman works behind a proxy just fine.
What do you guys think is the issue?

Anyone can help?

"abs -t" will use wget.

But yaourt already uses wget I think? Either way, my problem is with yaourt...
"pacman -Sy" works just fine but "yaourt -Sy" gives the transient problem...

I have the same issue. Pacman works fine, both with wget and aria2; clyde and yaourt fail, however yaourt manages to do the repos.
rsync_proxy did not help.

Anyone else care to step in if they have any idea why this might be happening and how to fix it?

One possible workaround is a program that re-routes traffic, such as tsocks (available in the repos) or proxychains, available in the AUR. (I'm currently trying to figure out if it is possible to have tsocks only choose the proxy when I'm in a certain network.)
