Hi fellow Archers!
I'm getting a netbook for christmas (hopefully), and I'm choosing which one.
Currently, I'm pending between the Asus Eee 1005HA and the HP Mini 311.
The Asus has better battery and Intel chipset (good open source drivers, kms), the HP has better graphic performance.
Has anybody tried Heroes of Newerth on the Asus EeePC, though it's poor performance?
It would be extremely cool if I could play that on a netbook. The HP can run it easily I think...

I have intel GMA G965
After compiling the mesa 7.7 HoN started rendering properly (for the first time on Linux intel graphics).
However at 600x800 I get ~15 FPS (everything on minimum) in one line, which is playable, but in 5v5 battles I get 1-5 FPS so if I play on my notebook I only get a hero that only spams one spell (like armadon) because I'm practically useless.
In other words highly unlikely unless you have nvidia card (ati still can't render properly HoN AFAIK... Hurray for ati linux support) or intel 4*** series...

I'd go for the HP one. It has about 3 hrs shorter battery life, but who the hell needs to browse the web for 9 hours without a power source? I personally prefer muscles over battery life when it comes to notebooks and if you are seriously thinking about playing games on your netbook, a decent graphics card is a must...

I have just installed HoN on my 1005HA using yaourt but when I run it I get:
warning: The VAD has been replaced by a hack pending a complete rewrite
K2 - Fatal Error: ARB_fragment_shader not available.
(and the same if I follow the installation with the file provided by S2 Games)
The first line also appears on a Debian machine with an ATI Radeon 4850 where the game runs PERFECT.
Any idea?

Same error message with Acer Aspire 5500z with Intel 915GM integrated graphics. My card is shown as supported on the HoN website. Anyone got a clue to what may wrong?

I encountered a similar issue (or maybe the same? I can't remeber the exact error) using the open source ati driver. However, after installing catalyst, HoN worked fine.
