[SOLVED] BCM4311 Wireless isn't working

I'm having a problem with my wireless card. Could someone please help me figure out whats causeing this problem?

lspci -vnn | grep 14e4
03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN [14e4:4311] (rev 02)

iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

wlan0     IEEE 802.11bg  Mode:Managed  Access Point: Not-Associated
          Tx-Power=off
          Retry  long limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off

ifconfig wlan0 up
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132

Edit: Problem solved by switching my wireless button into the "on" position... I was convinced that it was a configuration error on my part. I guess it wasn't a total loss though, I now know my way around Arch a little better than when I began. roll

What do you mean by "switching my wireless button into the "on" position"? You mean pushing the switch so the blue light is on? I'm just asking just in case, cause I have a bcm4311. smile

first be sure you install the firmware. the steps are on the wiki

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

This is exactly what I mean, and I know, it seems like the most obvious solution. When I had tried this the first time, the light remained red, so I moved on to other things.

Yes, it took me quite awhile to figure this out, but it seems that the firmware needs to be installed for the light to switch from red to blue... smile
