[solved] wl module load failure
I was having problems doing a full system upgrade (was getting the 'error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies) :: broadcom-wl: requires kernel26<2.6.33') and as per someone's suggestion in the forum, I did a -Rd broadcom-wl and was then able to upgrade. However, upon restarting I get a "FATAL: module wl not found" and then a blank screen. I tried Archlinux Fallback but it doesn't work either and I don't know how to get a command prompt from here. Is there anything I can do to ameliorate this foobar?

-Rd package means that the package was removed. The next step after rebooting in the new kernel is to reinstall broadcom-wl
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

The screen just goes blank after "FATAL: module wl not found" message. I'm unable to even boot into the new kernel.

Despite the screen being blank I just typed my username/pass and started X as I would normally. I got in and set my laptop up to a wired network so I could get the driver again. However, now I'm curious as to what's causing my boot screen to be blank.

Now, seriously: I don't believe the fact it was not finding wl should make your screen go black. May be it was something unrelated? Did you try to boot in single user mode?

Seems it had something to do with my framebuffer resolution. I changed my vga code on the kernel line in menu.lst and am now getting system message/boot console. Joy.
