Torrent NAS with WebGUI

Been trying to set one up on my server
Couldn't figure out how to set it up with transmission, the documentation on their site is confusing

Anyone know how to set one up with Azureus, aka Vuze and set Vuze up as a daemon?

Re: Torrent NAS with WebGUI

Why not use rtorrent with e.g. ruTorrent as a front-end? Piece of cake, really.

Is there a step by step guide on doing this?

Re: Torrent NAS with WebGUI

Yop.

1) Check the available documentation and howto's for installing and configuring rtorrent
2) Set up a webserver (e.g. lighttpd)
3) install ruTorrent and configure it
4) finalise your setup through ruTorrent's settings dialogs

All four steps are documented smile.

Re: Torrent NAS with WebGUI

I'd recommend lighttpd + rtorrent + rutorrent, too. Very fast, light and configurable.

Re: Torrent NAS with WebGUI

Transmission is quite easy to set up.
Just

sudo pacman -S tranmission-cli

start transmission and terminate it via /etc/rc.d/ .
configure /root/.config/transmission/settings.json or someting like that
All parameters are documented here.
You will want to look into rpc-whitelist.

I tried this, transmissiond overwrites the settings.json file everytime, so any changes made are not there anymore

Re: Torrent NAS with WebGUI

You can always use chattr +i. I still recommend rtorrent though.

I use deluge and it's web interface at home. I don't think it was hard to get working but it's been a while.

Re: Torrent NAS with WebGUI

Ok I got it working with http://filesharefreak.com/tutorials/set … flux-b4rt/

Works great with just the bit torrent client, not transmission or anything else.  Some parts of the guide are not  so comprehensible, so if anyone can create a Wiki page with the title "Setup a linux seedbox from scratch using Arch Linux and TFlux-b4rt", I will update it with more understandable instructions for us noobs.  I learned a lot about php, apache, mysql and setting up a web server.

Re: Torrent NAS with WebGUI

You just went through the process, what's stopping you from adding a wiki page yourself? smile

Re: Torrent NAS with WebGUI

+ 1 apache + rtorrent + rutorrent
Just set up apache web server (mod-scgi), get rtorrent and rutorrent, port rtorrent (scgi_port = 127.0.0.1:5000)...
Here is similiar tutorial as for rutorrent, just you won't download rtgui, but ruttorrent (-1 it's for debian, but the same...).

I still don't know where exactly to go to create a Wiki Page.

Re: Torrent NAS with WebGUI

Log in or create an account

Then you can edit the existing page for rtorrent and add instructions for setting up rutorrent. You can create a new wiki page if you want by entering the (non-existent) URL into your browser while being logged in to the wiki.
