I started noticing some strange freezes in Stumpwm today. At first I suspected stump since I just started using it recently but then kde did the same thing upon reboot. The system would start freezing for a while, lockup (no keyboard input), graphics display would appear corrupted, etc. Investigating the logs I found:

After considering things I decided to simply switch back to Nouveau from nvidia-96xx. I've yet to see the problem reoccur yet since doing so. I will update if it does. I only started getting these errors in the logs after having these problems. Investigating past logs show that they have never appeared before as far as I can see.
Some hardware and config info:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX 4000] (rev c1)
Linux arch-desktop 2.6.33-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun May 2 08:21:02 UTC 2010 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
Recently upgraded the kernel but I rebooted a few days ago and did not notice this before:
[2010-05-09 20:25] upgraded kernel26-firmware (2.6.33.3-1 -> 2.6.33.3-2)
This isn't a big deal to me as I prefer using nouveau anyway but I wanted to share this because I would not be surprised if others see it. Just a little info for anyone who runs into this and does a search on these errors....

Thought I had better follow up on this in case someone relied on this information. The problem reoccurred this morning with the Nouveau driver. Upon investigating I found two blown (gapping holes, leaking) capacitors on the Nvidia card. This might also be related to previous system instability which I have been experiencing the last few months (I was unable to find evidence of capacitor issues on the motherboard itself). I'm using a backup video card at this time.
