Skype uses the QT fonts I think, and you're on Gnome.

Under options, you can set "style" to desktop settings or gtk. Altough, last time I tried one of these skype just crashed and would not start anymore... if this happens, you have to look for some skype .config file in home and change it back to "clearlooks" manually.
ah crap - tried it again, same result.
skype -style cleanlooks
brings it back.

This line in ~/.Xresources will be used by qt:
Xft.dpi: 120
After editing, run:
xrdb -merge ~/.Xresources
Test with:
qtconfig

you may need to install:
lib32-cairo-ubuntu
lib32-fontconfig-ubuntu
lib32-freetype2-ubuntu
lib32-libxft-ubuntu
from AUR to replace those default pkgs to have QT programs look good on Gnome.
