This is kind of strange but for some reason yaourt won't show the names of the files its installing. Instead it will use a placeholder like $PKG or $file. It happened a while ago and I thought I'd ignore it but now its starting to cause problems.
Funny thing is, it only is happening on one of my computers. The rest don't have this issue.
Anyone know how I can fix it?

In case you're wondering how its causing problems besides being annoying, heres an actual example
==> Install or build missing dependencies for $PKG:
==> Building and installing package
==> $PKG dependencies:
- noteo (already installed)
- awesome (already installed)
==> $pkg_conflicts conflicts or provides $pkgname. Do you want to remove it with "pacman -Rd" ? [y/N]

Heres an even better one fye
==> WARNING: Your package is saved in $YAOURTTMPDIR/$pkgname-$pkgver-$pkgrel-$PARCH${PKGEXT}

Clearly, something is different on this box, if the error is not occurring elsewhere. Have you tried to establish what the difference is?
If you're not in a bug-hunting mood, and just want to build stuff, check out the various other aur helper applications. Or just use makepkg and pacman (the best way IMO).

There is an edit button. You should use it...

Install gettext. It's in base.

And now:
pacman -S base base-devel
to be secure.
