Following the wiki article install from existing linux using a ubuntu 9.10 CD. Why? I don't have physical access to the PC and am doing it though vnc. Anyway, when I try to run pacman, I get:
$ sudo /tmp/archlinux/usr/bin/pacman -Sy -r /newarch/
/tmp/archlinux/usr/bin/pacman: error while loading shared libraries: libalpm.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I tried installing the libstdc++6 package on the ubuntu host, but no help there... thoughts are welcomed!

Thanks to Lucky for the great script. Just note that you'll also need the openssl package!
