I have been running ARCH (testing it) without any significant problems. However, during a Suy I upgraded to a new kernel 2.6.11.3-ARCH - and after that, attempting to load the bttv module stops the system dead during the boot process.
Some debugging showed that this happens during the hotplug phase when /etc/hotplug/pci.rc is executing - disabling it (chmod -x) lets the system boot and run. (Normally? I do not know.)
Putting in bttv as a module in rc.conf makes the boot stop right there, instead.
Should I try to downgrade to 2.6.10? Or should I compile my own kernel? Or is there something better to do?

Add bttv to /etc/hotplug/blacklist
It will prevent hotplug to load it.
EDIT: I assume that you don't need that module for your tv card.

Adding bttv (and bt878, and snd_bt87x) to the blacklist does not^H^H^H help.
EDIT that let me boot - but "modprobe bttv" kills everything, as before. Oh well, nothing is perfect. I'll play with KDE 3.4 instead.

Without blacklist,
Enabling DEBUG in hotplug.functions gave output ending in
...
DEBUG=yes
_=/usr/bin/env
invoke /etc/hotplug/pci.agent ()
setup bttv for PCI slot 00:0e.0
and everything, including the keyboard, dies..
By the way, I have not yet set up Linux use of the Twinhan card but I believe the bttv etc modules are actually necessary.
