nvidia driver

Hello for all , I have installed nvidia driver and installs ok, but the 3d functions don`t work, and nvidia logo not appears, and the colors dept is the minimun 8 bits.
Ani body Have the same troubble? I search over the net 4 weeks and don´t find the solution.

pd..  my kernel is 2.6.11-3 and the driver nvidia is the latest.

Comment the DRI section of your xorg.conf and restart X.

MMM ok, I have comented dri lines, but the troubble is the same,I read the arch wiki and have write the recomendations on thid page, bu don`t work glxgears an glxinfo
glxgears message is (couldn´t get an RGB, Double-buffered visual..
an glxinfo mesage is (couldn`t find RGB GLX visual, but with the command (xpdyinfo) the message tells that the GLX module and NV-GLX is loaded.

I mind that if is posibble a conflict with the mesa libs provided by xorg ? its very strange this troubble

Add the user to the video group.  If you still have problems, post relevant info from your log files.

Ok I have the troubble in the root user and in the normal user, I added video tu groupsfor my huser and the troubble persist here is my xorg.log

I had the same problem, it's probably because you have 'Composite' extensions enabled - GLX does not work with this. Remove 'Composite' 'enable' from your extensions section in xorg.conf..

Apparently, adding "AllowGLXWithComposite"  "true" to your device section will sort things out. I just got rid of composite myself, didn't really need it to be honest.

I have disabled the dri extension but  the troubble persist....
I read the log and view that glx said (only on resolutions => that 16 bits glx works , netx go to the xorg.conf and edit the screen section with the lines

I dont know because when I install xorg put the resolutions very low my monitor is a viewsonic 17 inchs and my graphic card is a nvidia gforce II mx

my be is not the very solutions but work fine for me ,now I have a 3d enabled and a high color resolutions my be the secret is the line ( DefaultDepth 24)
